(Even farther from what I already disliked, I'm a die-hard L4D1 player even today.) It's a complete shame that the game took a turn in this direction. I have heard the news on the drama behind the update, and I can CLEARLY see it's all true. How is this supposed to bring any value to the game? The map re-uses a bunch of the same "Fix the generator" and "Gas filling minigame" events from so many other maps. the whole thing just looks so lame for an official update! Unfortunately this "New" map has poorly made burning trees and other assets that just don't fit. (For instance, the plane that flies over and the burning forest area). There are some places which appear to be strange copy-paste areas from the "Dam-it" Map, the unfinished official map from L4D1. How on earth did Valve pass this and make it an official update? It not only looks like trash, it plays like trash. Have fun with The Last Stand, and if you're curious about all of the details, you can find the full patch notes over at Steam. The Last Stand campaign map was absolute garbage. Also, Left 4 Dead 2 has had Steam Workshop support for a very long time now, so if you're in the mood, there's plenty of user-made campaigns to try out! A bit disappointing to be sure, but the update is definitely still impressive and well worth checking out. While the new campaign is brutally difficulty, it is worth mentioning that it's also fairly short and contains only two maps. If you're wondering what all of this looks like in actual gameplay, you'll find your answers in the recently posted trailer down below. You can expect to see a brand new campaign, 26 new survival maps to test yourself against, 4 new scavenge maps to remind you the game mode even exists, 2 new melee weapons, and in a rather surprising move, the official implementation of Counter-Strike: Source weapons! The Left 4 Dead 1 infected have also received their original skins, a bunch of previously unused voice lines have been added in, numerous animations have been spruced up, and naturally, there's a whole bunch of balance changes and bug fixes to round things out. I'm not overstating its size either, because The Last Stand has added a little bit of something to pretty much every aspect of Left 4 Dead 2!
